Butler Bulldogs star forward Gordon Hayward intends to hire an agent and remain in the NBA Draft.
Hayward saw his draft stock take a meteoric rise thanks to a phenomenal performance in the NCAA tournament.
It’s unlikely that returning to school could improve his draft stock, so he will take the money and run.
He is projected to go anywhere from the late lottery to the middle of the first round, which means millions of dollars headingh is way.
The decision is a crushing blow for Butler, which would have been a top five team had he returned.

Butler Bulldogs sophomore star forward Gordon Hayward has decided to enter his name in the NBA Draft.
However, he does intend on hiring an agent yet, which leaves open the possibility he could return to school.
It’s a tough decision for Hayward, who would love to return to school and make another national title push.
At the same time, his value has skyrocketed so much that his stock may never be higher than it is now.
By returning to school, he could risk losing millions and millions of dollars should things change.

The Butler Bulldogs have given head coach Brad Stevens a 12-year contract extension through 2022.
It is believed that Stevens received a significant payraise from the $750,000 he had been making.
At the same time, it was no secret that Butler lacked the kind of funds other big schools could throw at Stevens.
For that reason, they decided to take a leap of faith and give him a huge extension that at least gives him financial stability.
The school is now hopeful that Stevens return will also mean Gordon Hayward will elect to come back for his junior season.

The Butler Bulldogs are hopeful that they can keep the current group intact and make another run at the national title next season.
Almost the whole team is back, with Willie Veasley being the only significant loss from the current group.
However, both sophomore Gordon Hayward and head coach Brad Stevens could be elsewhere come next season.
Hayward is soaring up NBA Draft boards, making it close to a lottery pick, and might end up turning pro.
Stevens is going to receive a big offer from Oregon to become their next head coach and will also likely be contacted by Clemson and Wake Forest.

The Butler Bulldogs came up just short of a national championship in a 61-59 loss to the Duke Blue Devils.
Butler trailed nearly the entire contest, but made a late run to make things very interesting in the final minutes.
Gordon Hayward had a chance to win the game with a three-point shot from halfcourt as time expired, but the ball went off the backboard and off the rim.
It was agonizingly close to the most miraculous shot in college basketball history and from the biggest cinderella story ever in the NCAA tournament.
As disappointed as the kids from Butler must feel, almost the entire teams returns next season and they should be ranked in the top five coming into the year.

The Butler Bulldogs continued their magical tournament run with a 52-50 victory over the Michigan State Spartans.
The win advances Butler to the national championship game where they will face off against the Duke Blue Devils.
The only concern now is the availability of Matt Howard, who suffered a mild concussion during the win.
Head coach Brad Stevens said that Howard is being monitored by the training staff and would be a gametime decision.
Butler already lacks a lot of height, so losing Howard would be a big blow against the towering Blue Devils.

The Butler Bulldogs have defied all odds by going through the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in their region to reach the Final Four.
Making their first trip to the Final Four all that more exciting is the fact that it is being played in Indianapolis, which is just down the road from the Butler campus.
The team reached the final four by knocking off the Kansas State Wildcats, 63-56, behind 22 points and 9 rebounds from forward Gordon Heyward.
Much like their win over Syracuse, Butler held the lead for almost the entire game before Kansas State made a late run to tie the score at 54.
Just like the Syracuse victory, Butler refused to get rattled or lose their cool. The Bulldogs went on to score the next nine points and seal their trip back to Indianapolis.

The Butler Bulldogs got an early lead, lost it late and then rallied back for a 63-59 upset of the Syracuse Orange.
The big matchup of the game was expected to be Butler against Syracuse’s vaunted 2-3 zone.
Butler struggled from three-point range, but 18 Syracuse turnovers proved to be the difference.
The Bulldogs are now just one step away from the Final Four, which will be played right down the street in Indianapolis.
They will have to find a way to get past Kansas State, which will challenge them with their quick guards.

Make it 23 consecutive victories for the Butler Bulldogs. No. 24 would send the Bulldogs home … to Indianapolis … to the Final Four.
Butler roared into the regional finals for the first time in the program’s history Thursday night, the Bulldogs taking the fight to Syracuse and knocking the West Regional’s top seed from this wild NCAA Tournament with a 63-59 victory in Salt Lake City.
A victory? Yes. An upset? Not really. Butler (31-4) proved it belongs on the big stage with anybody in the nation. They added validity to that statement Thursday. First the Bulldogs ran out to a 35-25 halftime lead. Then the Bulldogs survived a Syracuse surge, one that saw the Orange holding a 54-50 lead with 5:23 left.
Butler scored the next 11 points in a row, building a 61-54 lead that would send the Bulldogs into the Elite Eight.
The Bulldogs won arguably their biggest game ever, and extended the nation’s longest winning streak, despite struggling from the field (40 percent from the field, 6-for-24 from 3-point range). The Bulldogs made up for it on defense, forcing 18 turnovers.
Gordon Hayward led Butler with 18 points.
