Hayward to enter NBA Draft

Butler Bulldogs sophomore star forward Gordon Hayward has decided to enter his name in the NBA Draft.

However, he does intend on hiring an agent yet, which leaves open the possibility he could return to school.

It’s a tough decision for Hayward, who would love to return to school and make another national title push.

At the same time, his value has skyrocketed so much that his stock may never be higher than it is now.

By returning to school, he could risk losing millions and millions of dollars should things change.

Stevens gets long-term deal

The Butler Bulldogs have given head coach Brad Stevens a 12-year contract extension through 2022.

It is believed that Stevens received a significant payraise from the $750,000 he had been making.

At the same time, it was no secret that Butler lacked the kind of funds other big schools could throw at Stevens.

For that reason, they decided to take a leap of faith and give him a huge extension that at least gives him financial stability.

The school is now hopeful that Stevens return will also mean Gordon Hayward will elect to come back for his junior season.

Butler hopes to keep group intact

The Butler Bulldogs are hopeful that they can keep the current group intact and make another run at the national title next season.

Almost the whole team is back, with Willie Veasley being the only significant loss from the current group.

However, both sophomore Gordon Hayward and head coach Brad Stevens could be elsewhere come next season.

Hayward is soaring up NBA Draft boards, making it close to a lottery pick, and might end up turning pro.

Stevens is going to receive a big offer from Oregon to become their next head coach and will also likely be contacted by Clemson and Wake Forest.

Butler falls just short of title

The Butler Bulldogs came up just short of a national championship in a 61-59 loss to the Duke Blue Devils.

Butler trailed nearly the entire contest, but made a late run to make things very interesting in the final minutes.

Gordon Hayward had a chance to win the game with a three-point shot from halfcourt as time expired, but the ball went off the backboard and off the rim.

It was agonizingly close to the most miraculous shot in college basketball history and from the biggest cinderella story ever in the NCAA tournament.

As disappointed as the kids from Butler must feel, almost the entire teams returns next season and they should be ranked in the top five coming into the year.

Butler edges Michigan State, 52-50

The Butler Bulldogs continued their magical tournament run with a 52-50 victory over the Michigan State Spartans.

The win advances Butler to the national championship game where they will face off against the Duke Blue Devils.

The only concern now is the availability of Matt Howard, who suffered a mild concussion during the win.

Head coach Brad Stevens said that Howard is being monitored by the training staff and would be a gametime decision.

Butler already lacks a lot of height, so losing Howard would be a big blow against the towering Blue Devils.
